The 49 Euro Pilothouse builds on everything that makes the NP49 a great long range cruiser, and offers those looking for a more modern feel, a high quality alternative.
The North Pacific 49′ Euro Pilothouse with its large windows, slight forward rake and plumb bow offers a nice modern blend of traditional and motor yacht lines. There is no wood on the outside of the NP49E, only high-quality low-carbon stainless steel, fiberglass, and Flexiteek for easy maintenance.
The hard chine hull was carefully designed to provide good stability and economy at low-end speeds while providing lift to allow for higher top-end speeds. The full keel means the NP49 tracks and handles well in all conditions. A large barn door style rudder that, along with the shaft and propeller, is fully protected by the keel and skeg, leaves you in full control at any speed. The planked look embedded in the fiberglass adds character.
The hull is solid, hand-laid fiberglass. This makes it both very strong and heavy, which adds to the stability. A vinyl ester resin is used in the outer two layers of the hull to prevent blistering. Below the waterline is additional protection in the form of an epoxy barrier. The stringers are made on a separate mold and then glassed into the hull in a rigid grid design.
The superstructure is made of fiberglass and cored primarily with a lightweight closed cell foam, helping to reduce weight and lower the center of gravity. Rigid PVC is used as coring in areas that require more strength (where the upper helm seat is bolted, for example). The hull and superstructure are a shoebox design and are epoxied and fiberglassed together for a strong and lasting bond.
Access to the upper deck of the North Pacific 49′ is gained via stairs on both sides of the pilothouse and a ladder from the cockpit. Steps from the outside of the pilothouse to the upper deck mean that you can safely access the bow from the stern without walking through the cabin, unlike many pilothouse models. The upper deck is very spacious, providing a large area to relax and with room to comfortably place a 12.5′ RIB dinghy.
On the starboard side is a molded-in, L-shaped dinette area with a table; a great space for entertaining. Flexiteek decking adds a touch of class to the area. On the port side there is a bench seat and a barbeque mount. There is storage space under all molded seats. A large raised forward dash provides plenty of space for all the standard controls and navigation equipment. Two Stidd or Llebroc helm seats make a comfortable place to steer the NP49E. An electric/hydraulic davit is standard equipment. A hardtop with dimmable lighting is standard above the seating area, providing a low-maintenance platform to mount all of the various antennas.
The foredeck is accessed from both the pilothouse and upper deck and is protected by high freeboard and heavy-duty 1 1/2″ #316L stainless steel handrails. All railings are bolted into aluminum backing plates that are laid into the fiberglass. Courtesy lights around the foredeck light up the non-skid fiberglass surface, making walking around, even on a rough night, safe. A 24v Maxwell windlass, a Rocna 40kgs (88#) anchor and 280′ of 3/8 G4 high-test galvanized chain are standard equipment and will help you get restful sleep at anchor. The split chain locker allows for chain storage on one side and a great space for both fender and line storage on the other. A molded-in seat at the bow makes an excellent place to enjoy a nice afternoon in harbor or while cruising with a wireless autopilot remote.
At the stern of the NP49E, there is a fully covered cockpit with molded in seating along the aft transom wall and a large table. Dual frosted glass and stainless steel aft transom doors, in conjunction with dual bulwark doors, make getting on and off the NP49E easy. The cockpit and swim platform are finished with Flexiteek decks. These are synthetic teak decks that look just like real teak but require no maintenance and never fade. These details and the full width, custom made stainless steel/glass salon door, give a great first impression when boarding the NP49E.
A 2′ cockpit extension is available to increase the size of the aft deck. This option extends the hull of the boat, so the lazarette space is also increased below deck.
North Pacific interiors are finished to world-class standards with fine materials and finishes. They’ve hired experts and have spent years training their staff in the techniques to attain the level of finish that they and their customers expect. Hand-crafted ash, wenge and blackwood paneled walls, dovetailed drawers and solid hardwood flooring exude a quality feel. Select high-gloss lacquered and fabric covered panels add nice contrast and a modern appeal. In addition to this, headroom and window size is maximized throughout.
Adding to the level of comfort, the settees are made by a custom furniture maker for a couch-like feel. The interior of the North Pacific 49E is well lit with Imtra LED lights and LED accent lighting on the ceiling and floors. The combination of good light layering on the ash wood, high ceilings and large windows gives North Pacific interiors a bright and inviting feel in any weather, allowing you to feel right at home on the water.
North Pacific Yachts believe in large interior living spaces, and the North Pacific 49' Euro Pilothouse does not disappoint. The interior volume is similar to many boats in the 55′ or larger, range. The full beam salon surrounded by large windows and high ceilings of 6′10″ provide plenty of light and a panoramic view. You can enjoy the great outdoors from inside the comfort of the salon.
The salon is fully customizable, and they have many different layouts to choose from. Please see the pictures here as well as the traditional 49 for ideas.
Cooks will love that the galley is in the salon and they will not feel excluded from socializing. The galley is open and spacious. A large and well-lit solid surface countertop makes an excellent work surface. Dual stainless steel sinks, each big enough to fit large plates and pots, make cleanup easy. A 4-burner household size glass cooktop, propane cooktop or induction cooktop is standard. There’s also a 240v speed oven (oven with a microwave). The large Summit stainless steel fridge/freezer will be the envy of all other boating guests. There are several drawers and cabinets as well as options for a dishwasher and compactor.
The aft galley is an excellent choice for interior or exterior entertaining with its close proximity to the salon and the cockpit. The large opening aft door can slide either direction to combine the galley and cockpit into one highly functional entertaining space.
As with the salon, there are several layout options for the accommodations including two or three stateroom layouts or two staterooms and an office. Midship master or forward master stateroom options are both offered.
The master stateroom is full beam, has two huge hull windows and headroom of almost 82”. This makes for a spectacularly open and spacious stateroom; rare for a vessel in this size range. There is ample storage for extended cruising as well as room for a washer/dryer combo or a washer and dryer. A standard Samsung Frame TV (not pictured) adds a great art feature to the forward wall. The master stateroom has an ensuite head and shower described below.
Whether you choose a two or three stateroom layout, you can have at least one queen bed for guests. Other options include bunks or office configurations. You can also choose a layout with two single beds that can slide together to become a queen and a third fold-down bunk.
This forward VIP guest room rivals the master stateroom on many vessels of this size. With headroom of 89″ when you enter, large hull windows and an overhead hatch, the room feels light and open. A true queen size bed with easy access on each side will have your guests sleeping comfortably (some would argue, too comfortably). There is plenty of storage for extended cruising and easy access to the head and shower in the hallway, allowing for privacy for owners and guests alike.
The heads are richly finished with wood cabinetry and walls as well as solid surface flooring. High quality solid surface counters are standard. The standard toilets are the comfortable and reliable Tecma Silence Plus. The adjoining separate showers are molded fiberglass, with premium solid surface accent walls and flooring. A mosaic adds color and a touch of class. The showers have over 6′7″ of headroom and plenty of space to move around. The shower drains to a reliable Whale automatic sump pump. Large stainless steel portholes provide nice ventilation.
The expansive pilothouse on the North Pacific 49′ offers excellent visibility and, depending on the layout, has room for two single Stidd helm seats or a dual helm seat. Aft of the helm seats is a large, L-shaped settee with a table, providing a comfortable place for crew with an unobstructed forward view. The L-shaped settee converts quickly and easily to a bed. Standing to the starboard side of the helm, you can easily see the aft end of the swim platform. With two opening doors and an aft window, you will feel confident piloting the NP49E from the pilothouse in any situation. The two doors and three sliding windows provide nice ventilation.
